Shaker – What is it?
A shaker is a device used in cocktail preparation to mix, chill and combine ingredients. It consists of two main parts: the metal cup and a lid. There are different types of shakers, including the Boston shaker (consisting of a metal cup and a glass), the Cobbler shaker (with a metal cup, integrated strainer and lid) and the French shaker (two metal cups). The ingredients for the cocktail are shaken in the shaker with ice to mix and chill them before being poured into a glass.
