Vodka Energy is the long drink that works in any club: vodka, energy drink, ice. Done. It should be ice-cold, not lukewarm and sweet – and the glass needs to be big enough to hold plenty of ice. If you make it without enough ice, after three minutes you’ll have a sticky, warm mush in your glass. The ratio is simple: about one part vodka to four parts energy drink.
Here’s what you need for the Vodka Energy
4 cl vodka
16 cl energy drink
Garnish: lemon, optional
What matters
The ice needs to go in the glass from the start, not added later. Energy drink straight from the fridge or freezer – the colder, the better. If you lift it once instead of stirring, more of the fizz will stay in. If it gets lukewarm, the drink becomes undrinkable because the sweetness takes over and the vodka tastes flat. In some clubs it’s served with a straw so the ice lasts longer.
Variations
- Vodka Energy Lime — With 2 cl fresh lime juice – makes it zingier and less sweet.
- Jägerbomb — Drop 4 cl herbal liqueur into the energy drink from a shot glass – the classic from the 2000s.
- Vodka Red Bull Tropical — With tropical energy drink instead of the original – fruitier, but just as sweet.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the right ratio?
About 1:4 – so 4 cl vodka to 16 cl energy drink. More vodka doesn’t make it better, just stronger and pricier.
Which vodka works best?
Any neutral vodka. Expensive bottles aren’t worth it here – the energy drink will cover everything anyway.
Can you prepare the drink in advance?
No. Without fizz and warm, it goes flat and sticky. Always make it fresh.
Why is it ordered so often?
Because it’s simple, quick and combines caffeine with alcohol – the club formula since the late 1990s.
