Vermouth Sweet – What is it?

Vermouth Sweet, also known as sweet vermouth or red vermouth, is a variety of the aromatised wine called Vermouth. Unlike dry vermouth, sweet vermouth contains a higher amount of sugar, giving it a sweet taste.

Sweet vermouth is made by adding herbs, spices, fruits and other aromas to a red or white wine. Its sweet notes make it a popular ingredient in many classic cocktails, such as the Manhattan or the Negroni, as well as in some non-alcoholic beverages.

There are various brands and styles of sweet vermouth, and the exact composition may vary by producer. It’s important to distinguish sweet vermouth from dry vermouth, as they have different flavour profiles and are used in different cocktails.
