Raspberry Mojito – the Recipe Rezept

Basisspirituose
Alpro Drinks

The Raspberry Mojito is the summery variation of the Cuban original – less herbs, more fruit. Here, the acidity of the lime meets the sweetness of raspberries against the light, tropical character of white Rum. The result is a cocktail that refreshes without being overpowering. Perfect for warm days, but also a deeper evening drink if the mint is handled correctly.

And here’s what you’ll need for the Raspberry Mojito

6 cl white Rum

4 cl raspberry purée (fresh or store-bought, unsweetened)

2 cl lime juice (freshly squeezed)

2 barspoons raw cane sugar (approx. 10 g)

8–10 fresh mint leaves

1 lime wedge (for garnish)

Crushed Ice (approx. 200 g)

What matters most

The trick is in the timing: Add the mint to the glass just before serving, otherwise it loses its aroma. And the raspberry purée shouldn’t be too sweet – briefly purée fresh raspberries and strain through a sieve to remove the seeds. Those in a hurry can use store-bought purée, but then reduce the sugar. The crushed ice shouldn’t be too fine, otherwise the drink will dilute too quickly. A few larger pieces will give the cocktail more structure.

Variations

  • Mango Mojito — Replace the raspberry purée with 4 cl mango purée and reduce the sugar to 1 barspoon. Perfect with ripe, sweet mango flavor.
  • Blackberry Mojito — Use 4 cl blackberry purée instead of raspberries. The berries have a more intense flavor, so increase the lime juice to 2.5 cl to maintain the balance.
  • Ginger Mojito — Add 2 cl ginger syrup and reduce the raspberry purée to 2 cl. The ginger gives the drink a spicy note that harmonizes well with the mint.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use frozen raspberries?

Yes, but they should be unsweetened. Thaw, purée and strain through a sieve to remove the seeds. The flavor is slightly milder than with fresh berries.

Why does my Mojito taste bitter?

This happens if the mint leaves are crushed too hard. The stems contain bitter compounds – use only the leaves and lightly press them.

Can I use regular sugar instead of raw cane sugar?

Yes, but raw cane sugar dissolves better and gives the drink a slight caramel note. With regular sugar, stir patiently.

How long does the raspberry purée keep?

Freshly puréed, it will keep in the refrigerator for 2–3 days. Mix with a little lemon juice to preserve the color. For longer storage, freeze.
