Champagne coupe – What is that?

A champagne coupe, also known as a champagne saucer or simply a coupe, is a special glass traditionally used to serve champagne or other sparkling wines. The coupe has a wide, shallow bowl with a short stem. Its shape resembles a shallow bowl or a half-sphere and was popular from the 1920s to the 1960s. Today, the coupe is often used for decorative purposes or special occasions, although many experts say it is not ideal for preserving the aroma and effervescence of champagne. Instead, many modern connoisseurs and experts prefer the flute or tulip-shaped champagne glass, which is better suited for preserving aroma and perlage.
