Juleps – What are they?
“Juleps” are a type of cocktail often prepared with mint and Bourbon or Whiskey. The most famous Julep is the “Mint Julep”, a refreshing drink particularly popular in the southern United States, especially during the Kentucky Derby. A Mint Julep typically consists of fresh mint, Bourbon, sugar and crushed ice. The drink is often served in a silver or metal cup. Juleps can also be made with other spirits and variations, with mint often remaining a characteristic element.
