Baby Piña Colada – non-alcoholic – the recipe Rezept

Basisspirituose
Alkoholfreie Cocktails (Mocktails)

The Baby Piña Colada is the perfect introduction to the world of mocktails: sweet, creamy, and bursting with tropical pineapple and coconut aromas. Alcohol-free, yet packed with flavor—ideal for children’s birthdays or as a refreshing snack on hot days. The secret lies in the right balance between acidity and sweetness, so the drink doesn’t become too heavy. A hint of cream rounds off the texture and makes it especially velvety.

Here’s what you need for the Baby Piña Colada – alcohol-free

4 cl Cream of Coconut (coconut cream, not coconut milk)

2 cl cream (at least 30 % fat, chilled)

16 cl pineapple juice (freshly pressed or high-quality direct juice without added sugar)

1 slice of pineapple (for garnish)

1 cocktail cherry (for garnish)

What matters

The trick is in the temperature of the cream: it must be ice-cold so that it doesn’t curdle while blending. If the cream is too warm, place it in the freezer for 10 minutes before blending. Also, Cream of Coconut should not be replaced with coconut milk—it’s thicker and gives the drink its signature creamy consistency. If you prefer it less sweet, you can replace 1 cl of pineapple juice with 1 cl of lime juice to emphasize the acidity.

Variations

  • Green Baby Piña Colada — mix 2 cl of spinach juice or matcha tea into the ingredients. The drink takes on a light green color and a slightly bitter-fruity note without overwhelming the flavor.
  • Berry Piña Colada — blend 4–5 fresh raspberries or strawberries with the other ingredients. The berries add a fruity acidity and a beautiful color.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I leave out the cream?

Yes, but the drink will lose its creaminess. Alternatively, you can use 1 cl of coconut yogurt or 1 cl of condensed milk to maintain the texture.

Why isn’t my drink creamy?

This is usually due to the ice: it should be fresh and lightly moist so that it binds better. Ice that’s too dry or blending for too long will make the drink watery.

Can I prepare the drink in advance?

Yes, but mix the ingredients just before serving to prevent the cream from separating. The garnish can be prepared ahead of time.
