Adria Look – the recipe Rezept

The Adria Look plays with the color of the sea: London Dry Gin and Blue Curaçao meet vibrant Prosecco. The combination of dry Gin, sweet-bitter liqueur, and fresh citrus notes results in a drink that tastes like a holiday – but without any fuss. Perfect for warm evenings when you want something refreshing with depth. Not a mix for purists, but a sure-fire hit if your guests want color in their glass.

And this is what you need for the Adria Look

3 cl London Dry Gin

2 cl Blue Curaçao

2 cl lemon juice

8 cl Prosecco (well chilled)

Garnish: 1 slice of lemon, 1 cocktail cherry

This is what matters

The trick is in the timing: The Prosecco must be ice-cold, otherwise it loses its fizz too quickly. Only pour it in at the very last moment so that the carbonation gently blends the layers – like waves washing over the seafloor. If you prefer it less sweet, replace 0.5 cl of Blue Curaçao with a splash of lemon juice. Rinse the glass briefly with cold water beforehand so that the drink stays chilled for longer.

Variations

  • Adria Sunset — Replace Blue Curaçao with 1.5 cl grenadine and 0.5 cl lemon juice. Creates a reddish color gradient and more fruitiness.
  • Adria Breeze — Add 1 cl elderflower syrup and replace Prosecco with soda water. Lighter and less alcoholic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use sparkling wine instead of Prosecco?

Yes, but make sure it’s dry. A brut or extra brut sparkling wine works better than semi-dry varieties – otherwise the drink will be too sweet.

Why isn’t the Blue Curaçao layering properly?

Blue Curaçao is heavier than Gin but lighter than lemon juice. Stir the initial ingredients only briefly so they mix but don’t fully blend. The Prosecco then adds the necessary movement in the glass.

Can I prepare the drink in advance?

No. The carbonation dissipates quickly, and the layers only hold for a few minutes. Mix everything just before serving.
